Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Laura and I have been in the aesthetics world for nearly 18 years now. During my career I have learned about so many interesting lasers, skin care lines and practically hundreds of machines and devices to optimize the look and healthy function of the skin. One of the first machines I fell in love with was the Diamond Tome Microdermabrasion machine. This is such a great exfoliating and skin polishing device. I started using it on myself about every 2 weeks in the first clinic I worked at. It's very powerful and effective but gentle enough to be used often.
I recommend my clients to get a treatment about once a month at first to acclimate the skin. And frequency will need to be adjusted depending on skin health and concerns. For example, It is not recommended to be performed on active, especially cystic acne breakouts. We will address that concern first, and then perform microdermabrasion in subsequent appointments.
So what is a microdermabrasion treatment you ask? It is done with a wand that has a rough end connected to a suction hose. I will hold your skin taught and run the wand in a criss cross pattern to loosen and remove dull, dead skin. It will feel like a cat is licking your face. Just a gentle scratchy feeling. The suction function of the machine will suck out the dirt, oil and impurities in the epidermis. Fresher more healthy, glowing skin will be revealed and post treatment you will notice that now your makeup and moisturizers will glide on much more smoothly. Blackheads will be removed and dark patches from past post inflammatory acne spots will lighten up.
This is one of my favorite treatments to do for teens who have dry skin from treating acne with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products, or even those with dull oily complexion with clogged pores. It's great for brides about 2 weeks prior to their wedding for the freshest skin look! Post treatment, you can go on about your day with no recovery or down time and I will apply a sunscreen to protect your fresh new baby smooth skin!
I would recommend coming to your appointment with a clean dry face. But if you are coming on your lunch break or after work and have makeup on, no worries! We will do a thorough cleanse prior to your microderm. You may bring your own personal makeup with you and apply some immediately after, if you wish also.
